Tempered glass (Toughened Glass) is much harder than normal glass and does not shatter into large shards when broken. It is safety glass and manufactured through a process of extreme heating and rapid cooling. Through the material tempering principle, when the glass rises close to the softening state, an instant cooling creates a tempered stress layer inside the glass. This increases surface pressure and impact resistance. Broken particles are the size of corn kernels, posing basically no harm to the human body.
Tempered glass is often used in applications where using standard glass could pose a potential danger.
